Music Review: 雅-miyavi- / 咲き誇る華の様に-Neo Visualizm- / 歌舞伎BOIZ
1. 咲き誇る華の様に-Neo Visualizm- (Sakihokoru Hana no You ni -Neo Visualizm-) [watch]
2. 歌舞伎男子 (Kabuki Danshi) [watch]
3. ママゴト (Mamagoto)
3A. あした、げんきになあれ ~独奏 JAMセッションver~ (Ashita, Genki ni Naare ~Solo Jam Session ver~)
3B. Coo Quack Cluck ~独奏 JAMセッションver~ (Coo Quack Cluck ~Solo Jam Session ver~)
Instead, I'd like to focus on the 2nd track of this single, Kabuki Danshi (or Kavki Boiz, if you want to follow the PV title). I'm honestly pleasantly surprised by how much I like this song. It's funky, upbeat, danceable, and totally fun. Kabuki incorporates an eclectic mix of rap, acoustic guitar, turntable, beatbox, saxophone, etc. etc. that presents us with a dizzying array of crazy, hip-hoppy-jazzy-rock-ish goodtime. This incredible diversity and excellent musical execution wowed me so much that I've been having this song on repeat for the past week.
I'll admit it. I'm not a miyavi fan at all. I've always been aware of his presence in the J-Rock scene and known that he stands in his own right as an influential musician. However, I never got what the hype's all about until his more recent releases came out. I began to pay more attention to him starting with Itoshii Hito and Kimi ni Negai wo. His music has gotten catchier and individual songs have become more compositionally cohesive, not to mention his singing has improved tremendously. The daring experimentations have so far paid off well.
Hmm, if he keeps up the excellent work, he'll gain (yet) another fan. :D
Unrelated: By the way, I just installed a site tracker on this blog since now Vox allows widget embedding. I can finally find out exactly how much traffic this place generates. Yay. And look, *points down*, Vox has enabled Digg too!

Yay!!! I can definitely understand how those last couple of releases would've caught your interest - they're particularly wonderful songs. I, personally, prefer the A-side on this single over the B-side, but I can see what you like about the B-side.
Yes, so, yay, become a Miyavi fan. XP
Heheh -- well, I'm also going to break ranks by singling out "Mamagoto" as my preferred track. I like the unconventional, spare instrumentation, and the touch of drama that Miyavi adds to the vocals.
Despite his detractors and my own previous misgivings, Miyavi seems to be a serious artist.
Um wtf was I talking about. When I was saying A-side I meant Sakihokoru and when I said B-side I meant Kabuki Boiz. I know that this is a double A-side so I'm not really sure what I was thinking about at the time I wrote that. o.o
He as this ability to come out with something new, and for a brief couple of moments I wonder if this is just going to be horrible, but he has not failed to blow me away yet.
I agree that he's been the most accessible since just after Miyavism, so I can't tell you how pleased I am that you're enjoying him at your own pace. :)
(I've always been a Miyavi fan, but these new ones just blew me away!)
Good review. x3
Wow, you captured it perfectly in that sentence. I was definitely among the ones who didn't like his work before, but even I had to respect him as an artist.

:D I'm glad that there's now the potential of another artist gracing my playlist frequently too.
Miyavi has a different style of approach to the visual-kei scene and he is a person who is not afraid to bring out different kinds of music with a unique twist into it.That it is why he considers his self to be a kabuki or an individual, he is not like others he creates his own music the way he wants it to be....
omg i just wrote a serious paragraph -.- woah!
