I was going to write this entry earlier, but somehow when browsing the GazettE's homepage, I got distracted by the band's new image and started making icons out of the new photoshoots. Ruki possesses the most enchanting lips and I'm only human.
Let's try this again....
Our Gazemen have returned to Japan after what looked like a kick-ass Europe tour. The fan reports have quite a number of interesting observations.
Berlin: 01 | 02
Cologne: 01 | 02 | 03
Munich: 01 | 02
Paris: 01 | 02A | 02B
London: 01 | 02 | 03 | 04

Fanservice
Ah yes, the ever controversial fanservice. I confess, I've always wondered what... activities... the final edits of Gazette live DVDs cut out. Whenever songs like SILLY GOD DISCO were performed, the camera always swerved away from Ruki and all you could hear were high-pitched mass screaming from the audience. Goodness, what in the world got the fangirls so excited? My inquiring mind was dying to know. Thank you European fans for satisfying my curiosity. I don't know whether to laugh or bang my head on the desk when reading about the exact activities Ruki engaged in to get the ladies riled up at lives.
Fan behavior
Well, I'm proud of the GazettE fandom! I understand that at the band's first stop in Berlin, quite a number of fans got overexcited and screamed inappropriately during Taion. The news quickly spread on the net and, as if wanting to prove to Gazette that European fans know how to behave, everyone actually stayed quiet and listened respectfully during Taion at the band's subsequent stops. Great job, fandom~ you're wonderful!
Tour bus
And finally, here's a fan-shot video highlighting the London live. Listen to Kai's "thank you so much" at the end.
Now, please pleeeeeease come to the United States, Gazette.
JRockRevolution.com is now one of the indispensable J-Rock news resource sites that I check regularly. If this site still isn't under your radar, I recommend keeping an eye on it for the latest news on developments in the scene.
If you have a Livejournal, you can friend jrockrev so you'll be alerted every time the site updates the news section.
Incidentally, there are 3 latest updates from JRockRevolution worth noting:
1.
X Japan will be releasing a new song called "I.V." as the ending theme song to the upcoming movie "SAW IV". This song features all 5 members of the band for it contains unreleased material by hide. See the FAQ for the release for more details.
2.
Part 1 of the interview with Kai of the GazettE is now up. It's actually quite well done, informative and humorous.
Now that you mention him, why does REITA wear the handkerchief on his nose?
KAI: Oh… that’s like his trademark now, it’s like a part of his body. That is REITA.
Does he wear that normally?
KAI: *Laugh* No, but as the bassist of the GazettE, that is the way REITA is.
Isn’t it hard to breathe like that?
KAI: Well… I guess since he’s still alive it mustn’t be too bad.
*Everyone laughs*
If we think about it, we do start wondering, but since he hasn’t complained about it I guess it’s alright.
3.
Last but not least, there's also an interview with SUGIZO of SKIN and ex-LUNA SEA. Definitely detected a bit of ego there, but at least it didn't incense me like Gackt's interview on his concert in Korea. These are great musicians, but sometimes, things just come out sounding arrogant. >_>
Price: 105 yen (tax-in)

Man, I've fallen off the face of J-Rock-dom for a while. Real life is seriously sucking my energy dry. I'm flying back to NYC one day next week for more schmoozing. Not to mention there are numerous business-y events in the month of September that I have to attend. At least I don't have to spend a penny for any of them.
But back to J-Rock, instead of writing ultra-belated reviews of recent releases, I'll simply talk about my impressions of the bands I have been keeping an eye on in the past months.
AN CAFE
Even though I normally don't pay attention to AN CAFE, out of morbid curiosity, I just had to see what the band is now like with the two new members.
After watching their latest Kakusei Heroism PV, I have to say the new guitarist is sadly lacking in screen presence. The camera is trained frequently on him, but he always appears rather bland, not a particularly interesting person to watch.
The poor keyboardist, on the other hand, barely gets any camera love. Whenever the camera is on him, however, he kicks up showiness five notches. His stunts are sometimes overkill, but I still much prefer him over the guitarist. At least the keyboardist appears to have a personality and personality, to me, is much more important than looking pretty.
I'm not going to comment on the music. I don't know the band well enough to do so.
alice nine.
Not too much is going on with them, other than the fact that a new single called TSUBASA is out on October 24. And a new as-of-yet untitled album will be released on November 28. I hesitate in pre-ordering the album, since alice nine. has been really inconsistent in terms of quality in the past year. I'll wait to hear the entire album first.
Oh, and Shou, wicked wicked person he is, posted this picture on his blog and caused thousands of fangirls' heads to explode in big, splattering messes. Ah, Saga, what flawless and jealousy-inducing skin you have. Seriously, somebody needs to find out his skin-caring secret. How does he do it?!
Dear Saga-sama,
Your fangirls are dying to know. Please tell us, what IS your secret?
Me
I don't think anything new is happening with them either. They're on tour and will be in Europe soon. I'll be on the watch for live reports when the time comes. I hope there will be many of them since the band'll be stopping by several countries.
Though, I really really wish the band can make make more PV's out of their new album. I wanna see what kind of PV they're going to make for AGONY.
LUNA SEA
Haven't you all heard already? LUNA SEA's reuniting for one night on December 24! Now THIS, is something worth celebrating. Go, along with many other bloggers I'm sure, has already covered this. But damn! *flails arms* LUNA SEA is my legend. This news actually caused me to seriously consider flying to Japan for the event.
I need a lot of self-restraint right now. I can't afford to blow money on this, no matter how much I want to go. But I'm sure, somebody, will be going and will be reporting on it, right? RIGHT?!
O-kay, and this is it for part 1 of catching up. To be continued....
I just came home and to my delight, the new Gazette album has arrived! I quickly ran through the tracks and my first impression based on the rough round of listening? It rocked my face off!
Gazette has cemented their first place in my heart.
Expect a review soon. It's 4:26am, I really need to go to bed now.
20.10. Berlin - Columbiahalle
21.10. Köln - Live Music Hall
23.10. München - Muffathalle

And the rest of the world gets no love.
*kills things*
Yes, I'm a jealous fangirl.
Well, according to the manager's blog, Gazette is now in New York for making the upcoming album! From the photo posted in the entry, it looks like they're in the Downtown West vicinity, probably the TriBeCa or Chelsea neighborhoods. Anyone would like to go Gazette stalking? (I'm kidding!)
I'm flying in to NYC this weekend. It feels like coming home; it's been a long time. I'll be hitting the Met, Battery Park, and of course, Chinatown among other old favorite haunts when I was a teenager roaming the streets. Mmmm... green tea ice cream. I miss the Ice Cream Factory in Chinatown. And let me see if I can still find my old New York City Public Library library card. *is a nerd*
Of course, there's also window shopping. I have a feeling that I'll be doing this a lot since I'll be staying right on Fifth Avenue this summer. :D or is it D:?
1.
Here's the larger version of Gazette's new look from the band's staff blog.
*scrubs eyes with bleach*
Rooooooooki, what the hell man, what the hell?! And am I the only who thinks he also looks sorta whore-ish insanely provocative?
2.
Speaking of provocative, the cover and the setlist for the upcoming live DVD have been determined.
Yes! Filth in the beauty, Worthless War, Rich Excrement, Taion, Chizuru, SILLY GOD DISCO, LINDA, and THE $OCIAL RIOT MACHINE$ are all on there!!! I'm so looking forward to this.
3.
And uhh, the new album, STACKED RUBBISH special edition will contain 2 (TWO!) PVs. One of them will be Chizuru, the other one will probably be one of the new songs. The album will feature 14 songs in total, 10 of them will be new works.
4.
I just noticed this. There's now a picture gallery of all of the Gazette tour goods ever released on the official home page. It's kinda fun looking over the designs.
Here I thought that ever since Gazette signed with King Records, they've been leaning away from the old school visual kei image. But, apparently, I'm wrong. I'm dead dead wrong.
Aoi, Reita, and Kai still look about the same as before, but Uruha and Ruki.... Oh, man! Ruki's hair in the second picture makes me want to hit my head on the keyboard. Why-oh-why did you decide to replace your hair with a bird nest?
I shall mourn the loss of a dewy-looking, wispy-haired Ruki from the Hyena and Chizuru eras.
Evidence:
1. The bow should be aligned parallel to the bridge.
2. All of the fingers on the right hand should be curved. Extended index and pinky is a big no-no. Yep, it's sometimes hard to maintain that shape especially if you're double-jointed and tensely grip the bow (I wouldn't be surprised if Aoi really is double-jointed. Have you seen the man bend his back? Jesus Christ!), but the bow in the photo is actually at the upbow position, which is the easiest position to maintain the optimum right hand shape.
Though, Aoi does get points for cradling the violin at the right angle. The scroll is held at the same height as his mouth.
